Courtney Sale Ross: Valuing education

November 30th, 2009

In 2007, the Ross School sold 90 acres of property, contributed to them by Courtney Sale Ross, in order to grow the South Fork Special Groundwater Protection Area and to guarantee the future of Ross school’s financial solidity.

The school’s upper and middle school campus now resides in the same 22 acres in East Hampton on which it has stood since its inception in 1991. The land sale stopped speculations that the expansion plan of the Ross School that began in January of 2006 would include further expansion of the East Hampton campus.

The Ross School’s mission is to change the way education meets the future; to foster interdisciplinary, integrated thinking and innovative leadership; to engage fully in the global community; and to facilitate lifelong learning. Courtney Sale Ross instituted the Ross Global Academy in cooperation with New York City’s Board of Education and NYU’s Steinhardt School of Education.

Aside from her work in Ross School, Ross Institute, and Ross Global Academy, She has also worked with major universities across the country, including New York University, the University of Southern California, Skidmore College and Harvard University. At the Tisch School of the Arts, Courtney Sale Ross came up with the Ross Scholarship Fund for women.
