Retired Plastic Surgeon Joel Roskind to Pursue Consulting
March 3rd, 2010Although retired from his work as a plastic surgeon, Joel Roskind stays active in the medical domain. In addition to instructing a case management class at Boston University Medical School, Joel Roskind will also be providing his services as a adviser in the areas of practice management and facility accreditation.
Joel Roskind MD approaches medicine from a multidisciplinary and humanitarian perspective. Dr. Joel Roskind also served in the U. S. Navy as part of a three-man plastic surgery team, and during that time he traveled to Mexico to do surgery on deprived children with cleft lips and palates.
At Boston University he will teach a differential diagnosis course titled Integrated Problems. Roskind MD has previously instructed at Boston University, as well as the University of California, San Diego, the Nassau University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Cornell Medical School and the University Of Miami School Of Medicine.
In addition to running a busy plastic surgery practice specializing in body enhancements, Joel Roskind also produced a second specialty in facilities accreditation, eventually becoming an inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF), and is now lecturing with clinics to help them achieve certification. He also took a smart interest in practice management and now advises with physicians in the areas of hiring and training staff, setting up electronic systems, error prevention and patient relations.
Dr. Joel Roskind has always conceived that because patients put so much trust in their doctors, physicians have a special obligation to make sure patients get the best possible care, and he has worked throughout his work to make sure they are protected by stringent safety standards. He hopes to continue to contribute to the medical domain in this field as a lecturer. In what promises to be a very active retirement, Dr. Joel Roskind also plans to engage a personal interest in Judaic spirituality.
