In all manners of math, people are surprised when the improbable happens. Because an event is listed as unlikely, it also then becomes unexpected. In matters of money in particular, the unexpected is often not too welcome, unless you happen to be on the favoring end of things. It can be downright infuriating when you play poker online.
The beauty of probability, however, is that the unexpected will and does happen. If odds weren’t odds, and instead reigned as cold and hard facts, there wouldn’t be much of a game or thrill to the happening of poker. Instead it would be a system where the patient survives over the less patient, and waiting is valued over skill. Without the element of chance, and therefore the occurrence of the improbably, the adrenaline and mystique of the game would completely crumble.
In this way, we should be thankful for the improbable, even when it is not on our side. That probably sounds too speculative and wishful, and even harder to remember in the moment itself, but truly it is “just the way the game goes,” and the quicker you can embrace it, the more benevolent the forces of the worlds of probability might begin to turn and look on you in favor. Remember this when you play online poker.

When playing online poker, there is a certain kind of rules of etiquette to follow that don’t exist when playing in a casino or card room.
When in a brick and mortar casino, playing in front of live people, the rules of etiquette are basically not to cure and don’t be abrasive or insult another player.
But due to the virtual nature of online poker, there are different things to consider when determining proper etiquette.
One of these things, that doesn’t seem like a big deal but does greatly affect the flow of play in online poker, is whether to auto-post your blinds.
Pretty much every online poker site offers an option to auto-post your blinds. This basically allows the site to automatically post your blinds when your turn comes up. This is very helpful because it allows play to go faster and smoother. It always breaks up the flow of the game to have to wait for people to post their blinds.
Now, I know some players don’t like checking that option because they fear if they are away from the game for a few minutes they will automatically lose money on auto-posted blinds for hands they are not playing. But if you know you will be in front of the computer playing for a good long while, you should auto-post your blinds.

In poker , a ‘made hand’ refers to a hand that is already valuable as it is held, such as pocket aces before the flop or a straight on the flop that is fending against full houses or flush draws being made. A ‘made hand’ is the opposite of a ‘drawing hand,’ in that the made hand does not require any further poker cards to define its value; instead, it needs for the cards wanted by an opponent’s hand to not come. When a player has a ‘made hand’ he is not looking for the turn or the river to be a certain thing, unless he already knows what his opponent needs. The value of a ‘made hand’ will likely not increase with further cards, which often dictates that the player with the made hand should bet harder to defend against draws and make an opponent pay to hit the cards they need to try to win. By and large, betting on made hands is a winning strategy in online poker , as it is a fairly common sentiment that if you put your money into the pot on draws, you are betting behind the odds. Betting with the odds in your favor in the long run is winning poker, and so it is commonly wanted to be acting with the ‘made hand’ and hoping that the draws don’t get completed against you, though some players would argue for a much more aggressive style.

Here at the bowling center I usually find a recreational bowler willing to treat your neighborhood bowling league with improved precision and consistency. Should that be your goal, you’re approaching a major turning point in growing as a real bowler. Listen up, because this “Next Steps” handbook to “Bowling Like a Pro” stand as essential reading. Pros in your city’s bowling pro shop are there to assist bowlers develop bowling skills. There’s an old bowling adage, you get back what you put in (from the ball return - hah). That’s a joke. Okay, if only it were that simple. It’s all good, our bowling experts get you rolling your way.
Most importantly, buy your own the specialized at any number of bowling pro shops in your city. It’s not a sales pitch, it actually matters. There’s a reason its our number 1 recommendation, have your personal ball drilled for custom finger holes, and you can make more of your practice time. A brand name selected bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. It’s also important you’re wearing actual bowling shoes which provide solid footing on the approach.
If you went ahead and acquired good bowling equipment, now it’s time for the number two piece of bowling advice: how to aim. While you hold the ball, don’t necessarily roll the ball at the back of the lane. Aim for the the arrows like a gunsight. Never thought of this? It is easier to hit a point that rests closer. To get the most out of your aim, double check to see line-up at the same position 4 steps from the foul line with every roll. If you do it the same every time you can adjust your marksmanship.
As for spin, to achieve proper speed and ball control? Indeed, this is the third-most essential bowler tip. It’s all in the pricy reactive ball. Many professional bowlers pack at least two bowling balls to pull off heavy pin action, selected precisely for the type of game and lane. But intermediates might want to avoid putting on a show, and avoid a ball that is too heavy for you. Many avid bowlers opt for bowling balls made for special resin expert grip. Avoid the temptation, because these pro bowling balls often make even decent talents look foolish. That’s our first 3 bowling tips. I’ll be back with another 3 soon.

If you bust in Day 1A, should you be able to buy-into Day 1B? In a new trend, some multi-day online poker tournaments are allowing players who’ve busted on the first day to buy back in and compete with a fresh start on the second day. This is only the case of course if the event has multiple Day 1s. In theory, what’s the difference? New poker onlineplayers who were not previously in the event can register on Day 1B. Many 2nd starting days are actually larger than the first day because of late-comers and word-of-mouth. If a losing day 1A player plays on day 1B, he would be playing against a new field. Only on day 2, should he get there, would he be competing against former opponents from Day 1A.
Obviously this is a little grey. It sounds like a rebuy. Does this mean that online pokerplayers who play freeze-out events have more equity in tournaments with multiple starting events because they can rebuy? What if everyone who lost on Day 1A bought into day 1B? The size difference would be huge. Is it fair to new entrants on Day 1B to be playing against a larger field than the first day, not have a chance to rebuy, and possibly lose to someone who has already lost?! Doesn’t seem so.
What if a major pro busted on Day 1A? Most people would be relieved. A fierce competitor is no longer in the game. But if he can also buy into Day 1B, all of the weaker players now have something to fear again. Likewise, losing players on Day 1A will usually turn out to be losing players on Day 1B, so what is there to be worried about. They are feeding money into the game. If you’re already facing a field of 1,000 players, what’s another hundred? What about satellite entrants? They certainly do not have the extra buy-in to get into day 1B if they lose, which puts them at a distinct disadvantage to more bankrolled opponents. If a rich poker player knows he can buy into Day 1B, he might play recklessly against a satellite entrant, knowing he will be tighter. Or if he gets low in chips toward the end of Day 1A, he might just start shoving every hand to either double up or bust and be able to rebuy the next day.
